IIMS-qualified marine surveyor with more than 45 years of marine experience, and a qualified shipwright and rigger.

Chris Keenan is the principal surveyor at MSYS in St. George's, Grenada. He holds a Diploma in Marine Surveying and is a member of the International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS), which gave him its John Excel Award for outstanding achievement in 2021. He surveys yachts and small craft up to 24 meters built in GRP/FRP, wood, steel, and aluminum, including sails and rigging.

Chris is also a trained shipwright and rigger with more than 45 years in the marine industry, much of it on major restorations and repairs in different parts of the world. That background carries into his reports, which document deficiencies in detail and include repair recommendations.

He is an RYA Yachtmaster Offshore instructor, taught navigation and seamanship for the RYA in the UK, and later worked as a sailing instructor for the US Navy. He has crossed the Atlantic several times on his own boats and on clients' vessels. Chris works in English, Italian, Spanish, and French, which is useful for the international clients the company serves.

Manuela Pfliegel is the company's technical consultant and operations manager. She handles most technical questions and specializes in sourcing and importing spare parts and new equipment worldwide. Manuela holds a master's degree in business administration from Munich University, moved to the marine industry after a career in the automotive sector, and holds the German equivalent of the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore. She speaks English and German.

Chris and Manuela are full-time liveaboards and part of the cruising community, so they approach each job with an owner's perspective.

Services include all types of yacht and small craft surveys up to 24 meters, sail and rig inspections, consultancy on repairs and refit projects, sourcing and import of parts and equipment, and coaching and sail training aboard the client's own yacht.
