About
Captains Mark and Sharon Noneman are experienced sailing instructors who have cruised extensively across some of the world’s most renowned waters, including the U.S. coasts, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, and Australia. They have sailed a wide range of vessels, from monohulls to modern cruising catamarans, and currently live aboard their Leopard 48 catamaran, S/V Calypso. Together, they are passionate about helping others discover the rewards of sailing while building the skills and confidence to navigate independently.
Captain Mark began sailing in the 1990s on a Hobie catamaran in San Diego and went on to earn multiple certifications across keelboats and cruising catamarans. He holds advanced credentials from the Royal Yachting Association and the U.S. Coast Guard, including a 100 Ton Master license with sailing and towing endorsements. He is also a highly certified instructor through organizations such as NauticEd, the American Sailing Association, and the U.S. Coast Guard, teaching courses from beginner to offshore captain levels. In addition to his maritime expertise, he has a professional background in engineering, electronic systems, and software consulting.
Captain Sharon began her sailing journey alongside Mark and quickly advanced through keelboat and catamaran training, earning multiple American Sailing Association certifications. She also holds a U.S. Coast Guard OUPV (Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels) license.
Together, the Nonemans combine extensive global sailing experience with a strong instructional background, offering practical, hands-on training for aspiring sailors at all levels.
